So December...we had a blast at Disneyland and spent a small fortune, but it was worth every penny to see the kids' faces as we rode Pirates of the Caribbean and as they were able to drive their own car at Autopia for the first time and seeing their little faces covered in powdered sugar after eating beignets. Priceless memories.
After Disneyland, we began the march towards Loyal's third birthday, Reagan's seventh birthday and then Christmas.
Loyal is THREE. I'm not sure how the time went so quickly. He's definitely not a baby anymore. He talks all the time and has no trouble keeping up with his big brother and sister. The things he says are hysterical. We are always saying that he's a little old man trapped in a little boy's body. Currently, his favorite words to use are "actually" and "basically". When he's trying to tell you something important or attempting to reason with you, he crosses his arms in front of him and puts on a very serious face. If he is thinking hard about something he puts his finger on his chin and crinkles his brow. We love every minute with this little guy and constantly remark that we cannot imagine our lives or our family without him.
Reagan is SEVEN. And she is turning into the most beautiful little girl. Like she is heart stopping beautiful. I can only imagine how gorgeous she'll be as a teenager. Her daddy is in serious trouble. haha. She is still such a sweet, kind, precious girl. She loves flowers and animals and art and dancing. She's a total girly girl but just enough of a tomboy to make her fun. God knew what he was doing when he put her right in the middle of her two crazy brothers. She definitely helps to keep the balance in this type A, boy-filled house.
On Loyal's birthday we actually did one of our favorite Christmastime activities--Hillcrest Farms Pajama Train. This year Santa paid a visit to the pajama train and so we were able to visit him there! While we were standing in line to see him, Loyal punched Rea in the stomach. I bent over and scolded him and reminded him that Santa was right there! He quickly set out to find Santa a gift...perhaps to persuade him or distract him from the indiscretion. He settled on a large leaf (which you can see in Santa's pocket). Santa accepted it and all was forgiven.
For Christmas we stayed here this year. It was Lemoore's year in our rotation. We were blessed to have my mom (Nana) join us for the festivities. This year was especially wonderful because Josh worked extra hard to put lights all over the house...it was beautiful! We got a real tree and had a ridiculous amount of presents to put under it.
December was also the month that we found a new little guy to add to our family. I have always to have a Great Dane. I'm pretty sure I've been begging Josh for one for at least ten years. Well, 2016 was the year he finally gave in. We agreed that we would look for a blue one, since that was Joshs' preference in color...I would have taken a purple one because I wanted one so badly. After praying and searching for a couple of months, I found this little guy at a breeder near Redding, California.
He was one of 12 puppies in the litter--all of them blue. Usually with a blue Dane, they'll have white patches on them somewhere--almost always on the chest. Out of the 12, we picked this one because he had zero white on him anywhere. To find that is pretty rare. We had some ups and downs trying to get the purchase made and then the puppy picked up, but in the end it all worked out and we ended up going to get him in January (more about that in the next post).
Our other major news for December was that we had a new niece in the family!!! Trey had his first little one, a girl, born December 5th. Her name is Francesca Nora Hardee and she is hands down the cutest baby I have ever laid my eyes on. Trey is totally smitten with her--as is the whole family! This isn't her cutest look but I just can't stop laughing at this one! Those cheeks! Those rolls!
