Wyatt's first plane flight

Last weekend Josh, Wyatt and I jetted off to Norfolk, Virginia to start packing up our condo. When we moved to Alabama, we left the majority of our things in Virginia...and now that we are definitely moving to California this summer--we had to go start the packing process up there. We took Wyatt with us so that he could experience his first airplane flight. He did great and wasn't bothered by it at all. The only bad thing was that he didn't sleep much because he was so busy flirting with everyone on the airplane.






We got a lot of packing done, but we still have quite a bit to do. We're probably going to go back again in June before the big move to finish up. Wyatt had so much fun crawling through all of the boxes and playing with all of the packing paper laying around. He even found a slinky somewhere...






By the time we were done packing and got home, we were all exhausted. So we've just been resting and doing a lot of nothing this week. It's been nice. We're planning to do the same this weekend and hopefully pay a visit to the pool. Stay tuned for more updates...

Wyatt's first baseball game

Tonight we went with a bunch of Josh's fellow students to military appreciation night at the Riverwalk Stadium in downtown Montgomery. The local minor league team, the Montgomery Biscuits (yep...biscuits), play there. Wyatt had the best time...he loved all the music and people. We even kept him out until 8:30 (an hour and half past his bed time) and he didn't fuss once. This is a family outing that we will be repeating.

Wyatt was in a dancing mood this morning, and Josh caught it on tape...

So Wyatt has figured out how to turn his swing on and off...this means that he spends a lot of time standing there pushing the buttons. It's too funny...



Now, when he pushes these buttons, music comes on...and he has started "dancing" whenever he hears music. I keep trying to catch it on video, but in true Wyatt fashion he quits doing it whenever I get the camera out. I did manage to catch about two seconds of it this afternoon though...Please forgive the cinematography (haha). It's kind of dark and I had a brain-fart moment and forgot that you can't change the orientation of a video...but you'll get the idea...

Easter Sunday...our favorite day

Following the tornadic events of Friday night...we had a wonderful Easter weekend. It started with a couple of packages from Ohio! Wyatt got some Easter goodies from his Grandma and Grandpa Keever as well as from his soon-to-be Aunt Chrissy and Uncle Jake. He loved all of his new things and played with them until we finally made him go to bed.



Saturday morning we drove up to Birmingham and just hung out with my parents. We ate some great meals, wandered through Costco and bought Wyatt some Buster Browns to go with his Easter outfit. The shoes ended up staying in the box because my mom found some of my brother's old Buster Browns and so Wyatt wore those--I'm a sucker for hand-me-downs. While eating at Five Guys, we starting breaking Wyatt in on the old O-H-I-O cheer...he's getting there. We still need to teach him how to make an "I" though.




Today was wonderful. The weather could not have been more beautiful and the church service was amazing. We had such a good time celebrating the resurrection and the life of Jesus, our Lord. Wyatt got his first Easter basket from the Easter Bunny...a.k.a. Nana. If only we could have Easter every day of the year--it's our favorite day!

A quick testimony

It started storming earlier this evening. Wyatt had been in bed for a couple of hours, when Josh and I were at the computer together. The light above us started to flicker and then the TV blinked off twice...I asked Josh if he wanted me to unplug the TV since it was lighting a bit and clearly our power was having issues. As soon as I shut the TV off, we both felt our ears pop. The air pressure had dropped instantly...then we heard what sounded like a train rumbling towards us (cliche, I know). So Josh ran into Wyatt's room and scooped him up out of bed while I attempted to get Buck into the bathroom with me. While standing in the bathroom I could see things flying past Wyatt's bedroom window, and the rain was blowing sideways. The noise was unbelievable.

I immediately began praying...I said "Heavenly Father, I plead the blood of Jesus over my family--over Josh, Wyatt, Buck and myself. I plead His blood over this apartment complex, over our neighbors, over our cars and every posession that we have. I thank You that You send Your angels to protect us. Amen."

No sooner than I could say "Amen", the storm stopped. It got very quiet and extremely still. The rain had even stopped.

Josh ventured outside once we were sure it was safe to do so...all of the trees surrounding the pond behind our building are snapped off and there are a couple of buildings that have windows blown out. Our car, a Chevy Traverse SUV, had been blown to a diagonal position in its parking spot. Based on what we have heard on the news in the last hour, it seems that the tornado started coming down right above us and touched down a little to the east of us.

I believe with all of my heart that the tornado had every intention of landing squarely in our apartment complex...but Praise the Lord! He heard mine (and I'm sure others') prayers and saved us from what could've been a disaster! This testimony hardly compares to the testimony of Easter itself...but I just wanted to share what an amazing and wonderful God our family serves!

Today...

Today has been kind of a lazy day (by comparison) in our house. I've been doing laundry...Wyatt and Buck have been playing and napping some.



Later I'll be packing us up to head to Birmingham this weekend. We're going up to celebrate Easter with my parents. It should be a lot of fun.

I'm really looking forward to it because Easter is my favorite holiday. Don't get me wrong--I love Christmas. And the birth of our Lord is a huge deal...but I've just always felt that Jesus's gift of sacrifice was so much more important. His victory over death and the promise of eternal life just gets me so excited.

Thank you Lord for dying on the cross to save little old me.

Fixing up the condo

We just got back from a quick trip to Jacksonville, Florida to fix up our condo. Josh still owns a condo that he lived in while stationed there and we rent it out. Our renters decided to move out, so we took the opportunity to go down and clean it up a bit. We did some painting and lots of cleaning...Josh even replaced the kitchen faucet with nothing but a pair of pliers. All the work completely wore us out, but it felt good to get so much accomplished.

While we were there we also had breakfast with Papa and a big family dinner with my mom's side of the family. It was nice to see everyone and to get to visit...we only wish we could have stayed longer!

Wyatt finally has a high chair!

We finally got Wyatt's high chair. Up until now, he's been eating meals in his bumbo chair...but we finally found a high chair that we love and ordered it...then it took a couple of weeks to get it in. So now Wyatt can eat like a big boy...
