Fun at Nana's

Nana's house has so many fun things to play with and Wyatt manages to find them all!

Atlanta adventure

This past Sunday, I took Wyatt and Buck over to Atlanta to see Grandpa and Grammie (my dad and step-mom). We had so much fun! Buck spent his time playing with my dad's dog, Grace, in the back yard...while Wyatt got to experience a mini waterpark for the first time. I shared an afternoon of shopping with my brother, Jon and just enjoyed the company of family. Here are a few pictures from Wyatt's and Buck's adventures...

Pictures from our big trip

Doctor's appointments

Wyatt and I had our check-ups this morning in Montgomery...my mom was kind enough to go with us so that I didn't have to attempt this trip alone...

Little man was up for his one year appointment, which just blows my mind. It seems like only yesterday that he was born. Anyway, the doctor said he looks great! He's weighing in at 19 pounds 8 ounces and is 31 inches long. He is a little on the light side, but Dr. Anagnos assured me that he's perfectly healthy and totally normal. Some babies just have a very high metabolism and some are just so busy that they don't want to eat as much as others. Wyatt falls into both of these categories. He got four shots and a finger prick (painful for a little one), which broke my heart...but after Nana gave him a few goldfish crackers he quickly recovered and forgot about his trauma.

I had a check up with my OBGYN after Wyatt had his...everything is on track and going well for Keever Baby #2. I heard the heartbeat for the first time since 6 weeks. I think the heart rate was 155, which is perfect for a growing baby. We also scheduled the "big ultrasound" for July 29th! So at 3pm that day we'll find out whether we're having a boy or a girl. I still think it's a boy, but my mom, Josh and now my doctor all think it's a girl. So we'll see...I'm sure we'll have a blog post about the news so stay tuned.

Well, I guess that's it for now...hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far and that the rest of your week continues on a good path!

The new house & Mommy and Wyatt's flight back

Well, we found an amazing house to rent in California. It was definitely an answer to our prayers. We were having such a hard time finding anything suitable for our growing family and we were becoming incredibly discouraged. I just kept trying to remind myself that just because God might seem silent, doesn't mean that He's sitting back waiting with you...He is ALWAYS working.

Josh found a house online that was perfect but it was for sale...and for more than we would ever consider spending in Lemoore. But he thought he'd take a gamble and call them up anyway--to ask if they might consider renting their home instead of selling it. When he talked to the owners they sadly informed us that no, they weren't going to rent it...they really needed to sell it. A week passes with no luck in the house hunt when Josh gets an unexpected email. It was from the couple with the fabulous house who didn't want to rent! They wanted to know if we were still interested in renting because they had changed their minds! We of course went right over and looked at the house and ended up signing a lease the very next day!

As it turns out, on July 4th we had met a friend of theirs who must have said nice things about us...and someone had made what sounded like a ridiculous offer on their house all within the same week. Once their low-ball offer came in, it caused these folks to wonder if renting wouldn't be a great idea. The way that this all fell into place leaves Josh and I knowing that it was the Lord who made it happen.

Isn't our God amazing? Even the simplest prayers...even the smallest requests are important to Him. And He answers our call with such perfect and wonderful timing. I found this verse while doing my devotion tonight and thought it fit what we went through...
"What's the price of two or three pet canaries? Some loose change, right? But God never overlooks a single one. and he pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail--even numbering the hairs on your head! So don't be intimidated by all of the talk. You're worth more than a million canaries." Luke 12: 6-7 (The Message)

Anyway, I just wanted to share our testimony about the house....onto our trip back to Birmingham.

Wyatt and I shared what could be the most exhausting day EVER yesterday. We drove to Fresno with Josh so that he could drop us off at the airport for our 1:40pm flight for Dallas. Wyatt and I boarded the plane and after about an hour, the little guy fell asleep in my lap (praise the Lord!). He woke up about 20 minutes before we were to land. When he woke up, he decided that he would stand up and reveal that he had peed in my lap. I had a pee spot in my lap the size of a large serving platter!!! Talk about being mortified. Foolishly, I did not have a change of clothes for me or Wyatt in the diaper bag...and all of our other luggage had been checked. So we got off of the plane and hightailed it to the bathroom.

I change Wyatt's diaper and decide that since his pants are pretty much already dry I would just redress him in the pee-soaked clothes. Then being a pregnant woman, I realize that I have to pee like the dickens. Now, I ask you...what exactly are you supposed to do with a curious, barefooted toddler when you're alone and you have to pee? I did the only thing I knew to do and that was hold him under my arm like a football and do everything one-handed. Wyatt was squirming a lot, but it was working okay until I realized that there was NO TOILET PAPER in the stall. I could have cried. So I just had to pull my pants up and try to forget what had just happened.

After the bathroom fiasco, we didn't have enough time to get an actual dinner before making our connection. So I stopped and quickly grabbed a strawberry and banana smoothie. I figured it's a healthy alternative for both mother and child to the pretzel I heard calling my name. So I let Wyatt have about a third of my giant smoothie and, of course, he loved it. I was patting myself on the back for such a great meal on-the-fly until my child began to bounce of the walls like a ping pong ball. It had never dawned on me that smoothies are full of sugar (even if it is considered "good" sugar). So we then proceeded to ride for two hours on an airplane to Birmingham with Wyatt going bananas. I felt so sorry for the lady sitting next to me...I could hardly keep his little hands off of her. About the time Wyatt was smacking me in the cheek and laughing hysterically, the flight attendant walked by and asked if I was going to make it....

By the time we arrived in Birmingham, I had pretty much decided that I will never be flying with our children alone again....or at least until I can pull the whole "count to three" thing and it actually works...They should force hard criminals to travel alone with children as their punishment for wrongdoing. So tonight...I salute all of the mothers out there who have found, or will find themselves, on an airplane alone with a rambunctious child.

On the forecast for the Keevers....Wyatt's one year check up tomorrow....finding out the sex of baby #2...and starting the three week trek across the United States to ultimately move into our amazing new house on August 15th....we're going to busy, so I'll keep you posted!

Our Big Trip

As we speak Josh, Wyatt and I are in Lemoore, California. We're doing some house-hunting while Josh gets all checked into the training squadron here. Once we find a house to rent/buy, Wyatt and I will permanently move out here and we'll all be stationed here for approximately thirty months. Anyway, since we needed to come out here and do all of this hunting, we decided to make a big trip of it.

First, Wyatt and I flew out to Oregon with my mom and stepdad to watch my brother, Trey, compete in the U.S. Championship Track Meet. Josh flew up from California and met us there. Trey was competing in the decathlon and HE WON! We are just thrilled for him and of course are SO proud of all that he has accomplished. Now he's on to the World Championship meet in Germany this August.

After the track meet ended, Mom and Frank headed back to Birmingham while Wyatt, Josh and I rented a car and started the drive down to Lemoore. We stopped and visited the Redwood Forest, which was amazing! We also spent a night in Napa and visited a vineyard before we left.

Once we made it down to Lemoore, we began to house-hunt...which is what we are still doing now. Wyatt and I will stay out here until Saturday and then we'll fly back to Birmingham for the time being. Once we secure a place to live, Josh will fly to Birmingham and we'll all make the cross-country drive together. Should be a good time.

Pictures to follow as soon as I figure out how to compress the files on the new camera...
