This past weekend was Memorial Day weekend and Josh had big plans for the kids. He got out the tent we have never used and put it up in the backyard for some camping. It took us over an hour to set the stupid thing up. We argued, we fussed, Loyal screamed...but we did it. And we did it without directions. Why is it that setting up a tent is always a pain and the directions never ever make sense.
Anyway, the kids spent the whole evening on Sunday playing in the tent and in the backyard. Even Loyal loved it. We picked up a pizza and had our dinner in that thing. Josh really wanted Loyal and I to sleep out there too but it didn't happen. Around 9:30pm, little man was deliriously tired and just refusing to give up. So I took him in and put him to bed in his room. He fell asleep almost immediately, so I headed back outside to hang out with Daddy, Wyatt and Rea.
The kids played with glow sticks and Daddy broke out the sparklers. Around 10:30, I decided to go to bed and so they settled in for the night too. Josh said they did great--Rea woke up once because she was cold and had to put on a jacket. Not sure how well Josh slept, but the next morning he told me we needed to get some mats for under our sleeping bags. haha. I'm not too sorry that I didn't sleep out there with them. It's such a special memory that Wyatt and Reagan will always have with their Daddy.
The next morning they stayed outside and played in the tent until lunch time. They were "explorers" and then tent was the "clubhouse". I even had to "show ID" to get in and bring them some drinks. We took the tent down Monday evening and I'm pretty sure everyone was sad about it. Hopefully we can do it again really soon.
