Wyatt is getting so big (7 months old already!)...I believe he's weighing in at sixteen and a half pounds now, and he has two teeth (bottom middle). He's sitting up like a champ and is probably going to crawl any day. Don't be fooled though...even though he can't officially crawl, this little guy can get where he wants to go. He rolls, scoots and pushes his way across the room. He's also starting to pull up on things, so perhaps he'll be one of those kids that never crawls--just pulls up and walks. We've moved past rice cereal and onto real food too. So far Wyatt has had peas, butternut squash and sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes are his favorite by far...big shocker there. Next we'll try zucchini, carrots and asparagus. Once we get those veggies down, I'll probably start making him some fruit purees for breakfast. I just want to make sure that he gets a taste for the supremely healthy things before he gets anything sweet in his little mouth.
But all the new food on the horizon means that there is a baby food making day in my future. I've decided to make all of Wyatt's food myself. First of all because it's so much better for him and second because it's so much cheaper for us. My dad and step-mom got me this amazing food processor for Christmas that steams and purees the food CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT...so the whole process is really simple and easy. I had a huge baby food cooking day a couple a weeks ago, and that supply is depleted now...so I need to make more. Basically I make a whole bunch of baby food and freeze it (in ice cube trays) and store it in the freezer. That way it's always ready and perfectly portioned for us and I don't have to make it every day.
Anyway, Josh is doing great too. He finally got his research draft turned in this week. I'm so proud of him and how much he got done. He went above and beyond the call of duty on this assignment. He got way more done than was required of him...which I think will pay off in the long run. His school is going well and we're in the countdown to graduation. We're still waiting to hear from the detailer on Josh's next set of orders...so stay tuned there.
This weekend we're headed up to Birmingham to spend some time with Nana and Caesar. We'll probably head that way first thing in the morning. They were nice enough to offer their babysitting expertise so that Josh and I can have a Valentine's dinner alone. We are REALLY looking forward to a hot, normal paced meal...(once you have a baby, you have to inhale your food and one of you gets a cold meal because you were the lucky one who got to hold the baby first). I'm not sure where we're going to dine...we are carefully considering this decision because it is not very often that we get to do this.
Well, stay tuned for more updates in the coming days...here are some new pictures to hold you over.
