The Bible

There has been a miniseries on the history channel for the last two weeks (and airing again tonight) called "The Bible". I made the decision to let the kids watch it with us...and they have LOVED it. The violence has been minimal and fleeting so I still feel pretty good about our decision. We will not let them watch the final installment which will feature the crucifixion of Jesus. I just feel like that might be a bit much for my sweet babies.

Anyway, the kids love to follow along in their Bibles as we watch. It's amazing to me how much these kids already know about God's Word. Wyatt informed me during the show that the "Commander of the armies of The Lord" is in fact, Jesus. This is a fact that I have only recently leaned...I am 30...Wyatt is 4. I asked him how he knew this and he told me that it was "just in his heart". I am so proud to have a little one with such a tender heart for God. I just hope that they both continue to grow in the wisdom and knowledge of God's Word.

It's almost spring!

It's almost spring in the valley and that means one thing....the almond trees are blooming!

Weather station

A couple of weeks ago, Wyatt's class took a field trip to the National Weather Service station in Hanford. Wyatt says this is his favorite field trip so far. They showed us all of the equipment they use to predict the weather and even let the kids play with a rain gauge. Wyatt readily displayed his knowledge of all things weather since his daddy is a "fighter pilot and knows all this stuff".

Bouncing

One afternoon we didn't have much going on at home, and Josh was scheduled to practice his landings at the base so I decided to take the kids out to watch him.  Wyatt has seen people "bounce" before, but he had never actually watched his daddy fly...so this was a pretty exciting outing.

Prima Ballerina

My dreams have finally come true.  My baby girl has started taking ballet.  I could have exploded with pride on that first day of class...she looked adorable and more importantly, she did so great!  She loved it (no tears) and seemed to take her teacher's instruction well.  We enrolled her in a little class with our local parks and recreation department.  I figured it was a good way to get her warmed up to the idea of being in dance.  I'm hoping to move her to a Christian ballet academy in the fall and then we can get more serious about this ballet thing.

Sea World

Back in January, Josh went to El Centro for a detatchment with his squadron. The kids and I drove down (seven hours) one Thursday to see daddy and also to head to San Diego for a fun weekend.  My mom was in San Diego for her CAbi conference, "The Scoop", so it gave us a great excuse to visit our favorite Californian city.  I went to a couple of CAbi events with mom while Josh watched the kids...and then the times where my mom was occupied in seminars and classes, we ventured out for some family fun.  We hit the beach and more importantly, we went to Sea World for the first time...

Sea World in San Diego gives military discounts, thankfully and so we were able to see this cool park for free.  Here is our adventure in pictures...(side note: we learned on this trip that Rea is terrified of sharks. See below).

Happy Birthday Buck!

It doesn't seem like seven years ago that we took a sweet, scared little chocolate lab home to our tiny Norfolk condo. It took some convincing to get Josh to even go look at puppies, but once we saw him we knew that Buck had to be ours. He has been the BEST dog and we feel so blessed to have found him.

Reagan and I made our buddy a cake today. Yes I'm that nutty that I bake my dog birthday cakes. I used to do it a lot but haven't the last few years. I figured since he's turning seven and is officially a senior and over the hill in dog years, we needed a cake. I hope he loves it!
