The Dime

So yesterday we were riding in the car on our way home from picking Wyatt up from school...all of a sudden Rea says, "Mommy! Money in my mouth!". I looked in the rearview mirror and told her to get the money out of her mouth. Honestly, I have no idea where she had even found a coin... Then she tells me that she ate the money. I borderline panicked and called Josh's mom, who is a pediatric nurse. She told me just to watch Reagan, but she would probably pass it and be just fine. After I got off the phone with Pat, Wyatt says to Reagan, "Oh no, Rea! Now it's going to have poop on it when we find it!". I'm glad we finally know where Wyatt's priorities lie. haha.

Anyway, this afternoon we recovered a dime from Rea's afternoon diaper bomb. Wyatt was not happy that I chose to throw the dime away. He told me that "Daddy would not be happy about that"...which is probably true. Daddy isn't fond of throwing away money. :)

A Rainy Saturday

Normally, I am terrible about planning ahead for a rainy day. It doesn't rain here often, so I haven't yet created an arsenal of exciting activities for the kids on days such as these. But this week, a friend mentioned to me that it was supposed to rain this weekend and so for the first time, I planned ahead.

I made pizza dough last night with the intention of the kids making their own pizzas today if it was rainy. And it has been rainy all day so far. I broke out the pizza dough and all of the necessary toppings. The kids had a blast! We even had a little extra dough for them to play with while we waited on our delicious tomato basil pizza to come out of the oven. I think we will be doing this again soon....maybe when daddy gets home!

Smocked Auctions

So I have something new that I am in love with. Through Facebook, I found this company called "Smocked Auctions". Every week they have two fixed price auctions for children's clothes at very reasonable prices...usually quite a bit under market value. Seeing that I wish I could dress my children in smocked clothing every day, I was instantly intrigued. I have been watching their Facebook page (which is where they do their auctions) from afar for a little while...guess I was too chicken to try and win something. That is, until this past Thursday. A dress for Rea popped up that I just couldn't refuse...so I bid on it. And I WON! It was beyond thrilling.

The dress arrived today and I figured it was as good a reason as any to take some pictures of the kids in cute outfits. Here is the result of our little photo shoot...

Then we went outside, since it was such a lovely day...

Then I said, "Show Mommy some sweet faces." This is not what I had in mind when I made that request.

Ah. That's a little better.

I would like to end this post by saying....Yes, Josh. I bought her a dress. I'm trying to control myself on the clothes buying this year. It was only $35 marked down from $62. And I think you will have to agree that given how adorable she looks in it...it was worth every penny. Oh and I love you!

Almond trees

There isn't much that is pretty about the central valley of California. But one thing that is, are the almond trees...they flower in late February and early March, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to it each year. Rea and I were running errands and saw these trees. I just couldn't resist pulling over and taking a few pictures...it makes me feel like spring is just around the corner.

A verse that speaks to me...

I love when I find a Bible verse that just jumps off the page at me. I read this one the other night while doing a devotional and as God would have it, I found it again tonight on Pinterest...funny how He keeps repeating it to me, like I need to hear it or something. Thank you, Jesus for caring about little old me so much.

And so it begins...again

Reagan has practically been begging me to potty train her. I have been putting it off because, quite frankly, I'm tired and just didn't think I had the energy to deal with it at this juncture. Well...she finally wore me down. We went today and got her a princess potty, as requested.

When we got home, I sat her down and told her to go potty. Much to my amazement, she did! Guess she's going to be a lot easier to train than her brother*...

*it took me at least a year and a half to potty train Wyatt...and we still have the occasional accidents.

Getting ready for summer...

Each month that our men are away, we ladies of the squadron make them a "calendar"...on this calendar we put recent pictures of our kids, our pets, ourselves...whatever we think the guys might like. Each calendar also has a theme. I am in charge of the May calendar this cruise...and I chose a "pinic and barbeque" theme, since May is the month of Memorial Day. Anyway, I needed some new cute pictures of the kids for the calendar so I decided to let them practice for summer while I sat around with the camera...
